I decided to take a leave form work so Taz and I can apply for our marriage license. My friends were telling me that it will take almost the whole day to get a license so I set aside time for it. Surprisingly though, it turned out that we spent only around 2 hours max for the application. It was quick! It helped that we already had our family planning seminar during our Cana seminar in Ateneo.
The requirements from Pasig City Hall were:
1. CENOMAR (according to research, this has an expiry date so make sure that the CENOMAR is no more than 3-4 months old)
2. Counseling Certificate form Church
3. Family Planning Certificate from DSWD (we were lucky with this one. We got ours from our marriage preparation seminar from CEFAM, Ateneo. It was already part of our 2-day couples seminar. Read separate post)
4. Autheticated Birth Certificate
5. Baranggay Clearance (this took only about 30 mins to get from our baranggay hall. Surprisingly, there was no fee for it!)
6. 2 pcs 1x1 ID picture each
7. There were a couple of more requirements for young couples (needing parental consent) and for overseas couples/foreigners.
We paid Php440.00 for the processing fee. We filled up the marriage license form (duplicate copies) and then we were asked to come back in 10 days.
Quick and easy. Whew!
(TIP: photocopy all your original documents so you have copies on file. I was also told that the city hall keeps the original copies of requirements 1-3 above.)
